A poetic and thought-provoking documentary, that invites a quiet reimagining of our place in the world through geology, art, and environment
A poetic and thought-provoking documentary, this powerful debut feature film by Glenda Rome invites us to reimagine our connection to place, grounded in the poetry of the land itself.
Along rugged coastlines, ancient forests and into the geological bedrock of Scotland’s wild places, Expressing the Earth embarks on a cinematic journey into Geopoetics – the philosophy developed by the late Scottish poet-thinker Kenneth White, which seeks a deeper connection between the mind, culture and the living world.

Through breathtaking cinematography, the film follows the creative lives of six individuals, their reflections, practices and paths bringing geopoetics to life – blurring the lines between disciplines to offer a deeper, more intuitive relationship – a fusion of geology, language and creative thought.
Expressing the Earth invites us to look again at our relationship with the planet – and to rediscover the creative dialogue between human perception and the Earth.
